🐍 Serpent – The multiplayer Snake game for your live stream
Serpent is an interactive adaptation of the famous Snake game from Nokia phones, fully reimagined for streaming and live chat participation.
This time, the snake is not controlled by a single player…
The whole community decides which direction it takes.
🎮 Game concept
Viewers collectively control the snake by sending commands in the chat : !h → Up, !b → Down, !g → Left, !d → Right.
The commands are fully customizable.
Every second, the game analyzes the votes received :
-
The most submitted direction is selected
-
The snake moves by one square
-
Players who voted for the selected direction can earn points
👉 If 4 players send !g and 5 send !d,
the snake will move to the right.
🍎 Game elements
The snake moves on a grid and can eat different objects :
🍎 Apple
+1 segment
+1 point
🍌 Banana
+2 segments
+3 points
🍄 Purple mushroom
-1 segment
(Does not remove any points)
🍀 Golden four-leaf clover
+1 extra life
Allows the snake to bite itself once without losing the game.
⚖️ Difficulty adapted for streaming
Unlike the original game :
-
The snake does not speed up over time
-
It can go through walls and reappear on the other side
-
Movement is fixed : 1 square per second
Why?
Because there is always a slight delay between :
-
The moment a viewer sends a command
-
The moment they see it happen on the live stream
This delay usually varies between 3 and 5 seconds depending on the platform and connection.
The gameplay has therefore been adapted to stay fun and playable despite streaming latency.
🤝 A truly collaborative game
One important detail :
-
Points are awarded only to players who voted for the selected direction.
-
If several players vote at the same time, the majority vote wins.
-
In the event of a tie, the fastest vote has priority.
The game then becomes a mix of :
-
Coordination
-
Anticipation
-
Managing the snake’s size
-
Strategic use of bonuses
The bigger the snake gets, the harder the game becomes.
🏆 Score system
Serpent records :
-
✅ Each player’s individual score
-
✅ The total game score

-
